The Department of Pure and Applied Chemistry has one of the largest chemistry research schools in the UK. Research topics range from analytical chemistry to materials science and from biological chemistry to theoretical chemistry.
Research is well supported by industry, government, research councils, the EU and charitable foundations. Extensive networks of national and international collaborations exist in all fields.
The department contributes to collaborative drug research through PharmaLinks (external link) and the Strathclyde Institute for Drug Research (external link).
