Biography

Robert Emmet Mulvey was born in Glasgow in 1959 and educated at Saint Gregory's secondary school.

Both of his degrees (BSc with first class honours in 1981 and PhD in 1984) were obtained at the University of Strathclyde, the latter achieved under the supervision of the late Ron Snaith (latterly University of Cambridge).

Following two years as a postdoctoral research assistant with Professor Ken Wade at the University of Durham, he returned to Strathclyde in 1986 to take up a Royal Society Research Fellowship.

Remaining at Strathclyde in the intervening years, he has held a Personal Professorship there since 1995. Currently is the Head of Inorganic Chemistry.
