Biography
Professor Mills gained a first class honours degree in Chemistry from the University of London (Westfield College) in 1979 and was at the same time awarded the Neil Arnott award for the best degree in Chemistry in the University of London for that year.
His PhD on the photodissociation of water was carried out at the Royal Instritution of Great Britain, supervised by the Nobel Laureate Lord George Porter, PRS.
At 24 he took up a lectureship at Swansea University in the Department of Chemistry.
In 1995, aged 38 Professor Mills was awarded a personal Chair in Chemistry, and in 1999 left for the University of Strathclyde to take up a Chair in Physical Chemistry in the Department of Pure and Applied Chemistry.
Professor Mills' research interests include: dye and semiconductor photochemistry, redox catalysis and optical gas sensing.
